I think I already know the answer, but should I whip my sidesteps off for next weekend?

I hope we do as well!

Shame you couldn't make it. It'll be a boring drive for me to and from with no convoy...!

have you tried taking them off? takes about 5 minutes the first time, then get the socket on an impact gun and you can whip em off in about 2 minutes flat, and that includes putting them in the garage...
Plus taking them off allows the mud fountain to plume oh so more gracefully up the sides of the truck....

Think Bio needs to answer that as it's his lead...

I was starting to worry that people would pull out with the fuel situation at the moment, I've been riding to work just to save fuel

iirc its 2 bolts and 2 nuts - there are 2 studs that are there so you can "hang" the steps on them and swing them up to put them back on - or swing 'em down to take them off!

                            What!
                            We need fuel?!
                            no one mentioned that bit...
Will have to put the surf in the pertol station queue about wednesday afternoon then to make sure I have some by friday night!

Failing that, it's Tesco's finest flower oil and a bottle of white spirit!

                                Full tank of fuel
appropriate clothing and FOOTWEAR - it may be dry in your surf. you may not be able to get out of your surf "in the dry" if you see what I mean...
Plenty of food and drinks. Its funny how adrenalin gives you a hunger!
Any recovery aids you have. At the least some D Shackles for your recovery points...
                                basic tool kit.
Strap down anything you have in the boot. Just makes it a nicer place to be without stuff hitting your head or just rattling around all day
I bring an electric tyre pump, just in case...
few litres of water to clean down lights and screen at the end of the day.
                                Some more food.
                                A big grin...
