Personally, I wouldn't want to hit trails new to me with a trailer behind me...
Rob, what about a roof rack if you feel you're gonna be short of space? Just put lighter stuff up there then its not gonna mess with your CoG either. Not that a spare wheel and a few jerry cans is gonna have much effect when you think that the weight of your chassis, four wheels, gearbox and engine is all lower than the waterline!

but I guess you're right, a roof rack to get the tent and some of the bulky items out of the vehicle will probably work ok, remember I'll have Harley with me, so him and his food (which I will have to bring with) will take up most of the rear, ( and with extra fuel and water I reckon about 200 KG )and that only leaves the rear seats for everything else.
