Anyway, like I say, it's probably best if we keep an eye on what each of us is taking so we dont have to much pointless duplication and uneccessary extra weight.
Good idea, I've been compiling a list of service items and spares that may be needed ( for my LN130 ) which may or may not be usefull to others, and it adds up to a pretty penny, so it may be worth approching Barry at R/trax to see if he'll do some items on a sale or return basis.

I'm probably gonna need a new clutch and exhaust system before the trip anyway, but it'll be wise to take spares such as wheel bearing kits, wheel cylinders, puncture repair kits, filters, belts, bulbs, etc, etc.

Meanwhile, found this site, shame they cost £10k+ and are in Oz, but you can't have it all.

That's a fantastic set up for camping, it's just about everything you need all in one relatively small trailer, just need to find out how much they cost to rent or buy ( that part of their website won't display)

I guess they are a pretty good investment if you're gonna use it once a year, but to be honest, with a tent that size, you coud use it on bank holidays for a weekend in Wales too.

I'm impressed, and I want one.

Meself, I'm gonna throw a conventional tent in the truck (or on the roof rack). Cant justify spending that kind of money.

I'm gonna make sure I have Recovery that's good for Europe too.

I aint gonna set about major repairs! Just get it dragged off the trails to a road and call 'Le AA'

Well I paid my deposit today at the4x4 show
When I did the Pyrenees trip in 2005 I got everything I need in the back of the Surf

We did not struggle to find fuel so I don’t think you will even need jerry cans

I found that if any think I took to much kit with me

My deposit is in the post.

the back of my surf will be full of Harley, and some tools and spares, and the camping gear, clothes and food stuff take up the rear seats, so I think at the very least I'll need a roof rack of some description, but That'll add wind resistance and weight, adding to the instability of the surf.

I may look at the cost of second hand military type trailers, that would get all that gear ot of the surf, and make for a more comfortable ride.
I can always resell it afterwards.

These are the only spares I took with on my Pyrenees trip and thankfully I did not have to use any of them some of the items are require by law in France and Spain

                  Auxiliary Drive Belts
                  Coolant Hoses
                  Fuses
                  Fire extinguisher
                  Bulb Kit
                  Warning Triangle
                  Headlight Deflectors
                  Tow Rope
                  Hi- Vis vest
                  Wiper blade
                  Window cleaner
                  Spare keys
                  Oil

The kit list that they have on their website is mainly amid at older land rovers

Spare key top item and one I would not have came up with.
This trip will be full of great memories, maybe someone will drop out with months to go when I know what I'm up to and I can sneak in

Got most of that stuff already Pete. Cool, shouldn't break the bank then - unlike the fuel bill!

My list of spares came to about £350 + vat, but then again, I'm a bit paranoid about my truck,

I'll have to get together with Boyo, coz he's got a 2nd gen too, so we may be able to get a list together between us, and share the cost,

                          What do ya reckon Boyo??

Read Pete's suggestions. You shouldn't need much more than the obvious spares (belts, filters, hoses, fluids) because anything bigger than that can be sorted by AA / RAC / Whoever.

Might be a good time to see who does the best cover for where we're going? For some reason 'Green Flag' springs to mind. Anyone confirm that?

I have something similar from Codlords old 2nd gen that Corsetts bought, anyone going on the trip is welcome to borrow it if they want, provided i still have it by then. I am thinking of using it as a rough template but building something shallower as i'm finding it a bit too deep for what i need, the dog won't settle on it and if he did i'd want a dog gaurd coz he'd come over the back seats if i had to brake too hard.
