You didn't really count them, did you? One plus point is that
this thread is a veritable wealth of info regarding cooling system
problems/modifications now.
Just seen ferret's thread again, Charlie. Was that the hose that
you mentioned crumbled? Nice work getting it sorted, BTW.
Bet you must've been chuffed as punch when it fired up.
Edit: Just figured out how you got the count Vince.
picking my rad up tomoz rang the guy today and he said it was in perfect running order. not the news i was hoping for
so ive just ordered a pump from milners ( 68+vat from toyota)
i can see in to the futre hear one surf up for sale
there again maybe not (you guys know how my luck runs)
Sod's law at work again. At least you managed page 18 with that one.
When you fitted the ATF cooler, did you pop all fresh ATF fluid in? At least
with the rad testing okay it is one less expense to worry about. Have you
had chance to try a block and matrix flush yet? At least between the rad
and pump that's two points eliminated. Just have to work on the others one
by one now.
Just on another train of thinking, would a heater matrix rad be usable as
an extra ATF cooling rad inline with the existing one in the main rad, or
is the design or construction unsuitable? Still deciding whether to go down
the extra ATF cooler road, as of yet.
Blimey! they do go on a bit. Just get the fan locked, works for me!
Me too, (upto just). However, half of John's initial problem is that
his viscous assembly didn't take kindly to being locked. BTW Vince,
that's one of the short threads. I disappeared into that site hours
ago to find that info. Gone crosseyed now.
Must admit, another piece of info I'm peeved about losing is regarding
a more slimline version of the viscous assembly that fits on the Surf.
Can remember seeing it, but have no idea where. Bugger.
"But on the issue of scoops, I'm not familiar with your rules but you might want to check with your DOT beforehand as reverse facing scoops in WA are a big no no and you will get pinged . Forward facing scoops are not a problem.
Their reasoning being it could allow fluids to spray out over the windscreen if there is a probem etc."

That's why I re-done mine, using the original holes around the edge of the coupling. It's now like having a normal fixed fan like they had in the days of black and white telly!
