every one i deal with must be dart players ( tripple top score ) coz every thing i need seems to be £180
viscous fan 180
rad recore 180
kenlowe fan 180
any way the atf cooler was a piece of cake to fit (£100) but as to wether it does anything then i dont know i have noticed no change just i cannt touch it after a run and it's another item to collect mud and dead flies in.
i'm taking the rad off tonight ready for it to be tested, bet the guy recores it anyway, also going to strip out the water pump possibly buy i mite chec the price of an upgrade 1 with toyota first.

Is it fitted before or after the rad cooler?

Judging by the difference, size wise, between the old and new one, I would
definitely say worthwhile having it recored. Just make sure he uses the
beefiest core. Have Toyota brought out an uprated pump for the Surf?
BTW, with regards to electric fans, was talking to a mechanic today, who
used to have one of the Hilux 2.4's, (not sure which, exactly). He fitted an
electric and removed the viscous, and he said he hardly needed to use the
fan. Call me a pessimist, but. He did suggest that the Peugeot's have a
nice chunky electric fan for adapting for the job.
its in line but un sure if it's before or after i just took a pipe off the rad cooler and connected it to the atf cooler.

i agree mine never ever comes on now but as soon as the caravan is on the back then its a different story.

You wouldn't happen to know which page that link is on, would you?
Would it not be worthwhile fitting a manual switch to the new fan for
manual operation when you are towing. If it's coping under normal
load with the thermo operation, a manual on override might keep it
cool under heavy load.
pointless as the fan cuts in staight away when there is the slightest incline or when i accleerate(ha ha) with the caravan on the rear
That's buggered that theory then. Keep us updated on the verdict with
the rad. Be interesting, (not in a sadistic thank god it's not happening to
me way, BTW), , to find out what's the cause of the overheating. Every
person who I've asked upto just has said it should work fine with the setup
you have. I've asked mechanics, the rad chap and scr*ppers, and they all
literally say the same.
i'm hoarse from asking everyone for advice,
on sunday i was making up adverts for the local shop windows i even got to the point of placing one in the newsagents window and surching autotrader for a new vehicle until i valeted her on monday evening when i fell in love with her again.
so its throw some more money at her and see wot happens i think i will start with the rad then the water pump then a loan viscous fan and if all that fails then i will ..................
