Disassembling viscous fan

If it was a blockage anywhere, the coolant wouldn't have come out
at all. You're flushing using the coolant paths, so it can't be blocked
otherwise it would just spray back out where you're putting the hose
in. Must be some other reason. Did you check the rubber hoses, BTW?

Rethinking that bit, did you mean the coolant coming out was different
colours depending upon which set of pipes you were flushing through?

as i said on the trip to frodsham apoart from the one uphill bit we just purred along, its an absolute pleaseure to drive.

i have to go to the dealers to return the chain wrench tomorrow so will be pushing him about the fan, fingers crossed it will work, the non mixed anti frezze worrys me and charlie i reconnected the cooler so it feeds the right way now,

the hoses dispite being old all seem ok, g/box oil still needs changing as i know its been hot a few times since i last changed it, i gave it a oil and filter change at the weekend as well.

as i drained it i came out different colors as if it had not mixed

That might be just due to different coolant types. I seem to remember
mention of this happening with red/green coolant. Could be substituted
one way but not the other unless the block and cooling system was
flushed of every drop of coolant. Some type of reaction, if I remember
correctly. That may just be another symptom of the same type of thing.

could be oh well this is up to 100 posts now and iam at this moment no nearer to solving it but like i said i hope and think it is all down to a faulty viscous fan, so as soon as i have tried a new one , and with the new pump and ever thing the beast should be a ok
i will look into a lc fan unit like the aussie site suggests, correct me if iam wrong but they are on about the whole unit not just the blades that bolt on to it?

Have you tried flushing the block with the engine drain plug removed ? I think it's tucked somewhere under the inlet manifold.

From what I could gather, the LC and Surf viscous clutch unit are the
same or similiar, but the LC fan has eight blades with a steeper pitch
than the seven bladed fan of the Surf.

The elusive drain plug. Has anyone actually ever seen it?

i looked for it but couldnt find it so no i didnt, but this time when i refilled it i pre mixed the water and antifreze and the coolant is still the same color after the run so i must of got it all flushed out ok.
i cannt count 200+ posts on this thread, mostly for my inadeqence at do it yourself


BTW i have blown my nitro r/c engine up today, snapped con rod........

dont start me off again i have a Marin full sus mountain bike as well and thats presently off the road well dirt that is due to its hydraulic brakes chucked their pads out, and the company vans exhast has nearly fallen off so thats in the garage tomorrow morning the only thing that is ok here is the wifeys rover
