    • 54p/litre?

Shouldn't be for veg oil - it isn't conventional diesel, so should be taxed as Sulphur-Free Diesel or ULSD.

Mind you, the @rseholes at HMRC will probably just apply the higher rate anyway, irrespective of any new definitions.

Try and get a supply of WVO it looks like the way forward... initial filters setup costs but i reckon worth it in the long run.,,

i got a 20 micron and a 5 micron filter it goes through after being stood for 2 weeks or so...

and it looks like th tax for WVO is 27p as the site mentions on the link i posted earlier...

                    • I just been in contact with c+e and explained that i am using veg oil, but i have never had any confirmation as to what duty i should be paying.
I was told that as i am using straight vegetable oil then i do not qualify for the lower rate, therefore i must pay 47.10p per litre.

I asked if it had not gone up as from the 1st of september, and was told that it was due to rise, but as they have not yet had confirmation, then the price is still frozen at 47.10p per litre for the forseeable future.

                      • Ok... got onto Customs with regards to this ... they have put on hold the rises until a review happens... also asked with regards to the use of WVO and they guy on the phone confirmed I can paly the lower rate of 27p per litre for that... hooray!!!

for once i am very happy with my chat with them on the phone!

                            • Elsbett upgrade kit

                              Dear All,

I have been running my 94 surf on 100% veg oil for two years now with an Elsbett one tank modification kit. She has run sweetly for 50,000km without a problem.

We have also fitted this system to 8 other Landcruisers and Surfs with the same result.

                              Couldn't recommend it more highly.

                              • Just to let you know, I've been running my '96 3rd gen on 80% svo for the last 10 months with no repercussions. I have done nothing to the engine apart from heep a good eye out for it and put a bit of injector cleaner through it every 3-4 tanks. I have it planned in to fit an electrical self regulating preheater to the fuel system to ease the strain of starting which will cost 135.00 dollers from the US.

Can't beat the sweet smell of your local chippy!
