Sancho, govt stats are bullsh*t. Do you REALLY think they'd say 'Hey guys! Everythings getting worse, but vote for us again anyway!'

Of course not! You can tell when the b*stards are lying because you can see their mouths moving.

I was brought up in what was regarded as on of the roughest areas of Liverpool in the 70s (Huyton, go ahead and check the 'stats') and whist it was rough as in people had nowt, and there was backhander jobs rife etc, never once to I remember my folks talking about car theft, knives, guns etc. I've been down there recently and there's knives and guns on the street! Its like ###### Beirut with broken glass evrywhere, and dumped, burnt out cars! I didn't feel safe enough to stop, and kept my doors locked.

I do not read the tabloids, and I take what I see on TV with a BIG pinch of salt because that lot have their own agendas. What I'm talking about I'm seeing with MY OWN EYES, not via some massaged stats to make us all think everything's hunky-dory.

Incidentally, Huyton is the place where a bunch of racist teens set on a lone black kid at a bus-stop with an axe!

Things have definately changed for the worse...and it is not just me being a grumpy old f@rt. When I was a kid we were scared of the police if we got pulled (and I did) and I can never recall an instance of firefighters, nurses or ambulance personnel being abused, verbally or physically as they do today. Nicking from shops was the odd chockie bar, not the 12 bore and beating the shopkeeper to a pulp or worse.
there was honour amongst thieves as well!!
Did I mention I have a BLUE one

what will make the papers in a big way very soon will be an increase in seriously violent vigilante justice. which is why things need a rapid change in policing and convicting coz if the vigilantes start up they'll get the wrong people (like we seen happen with the paedo vigilantes when a paediatrician was attacked).

i like the idea of going out and giving a few scumbags a good kicking as do many other people pi55ed off with the lack of respect from the a-holes and the lack of action from the authorities. there in lies the danger - a few people feel they've been pushed into it then it gets massively out of hand.
i swear, it was like that when i got here...

Fatfires, one sign of the times down in the outskirts of Liverpool now is that the off-licences are clad in bullet proof glass, and your beer is passed through a hatch, and they have door entry systems that only let you in one at a time!

They certainly didn't have them when I was a kid! Why? Cos no-one took guns and knives to off-licences.

Sancho, you're fooling yourself, but to be fair, you were a teen in the early 90's!! Thats practically yesterday for us old feckers!

I've said it before and I'll say it again - 'you only get more of the things you help'.

There are VERY few people around who would actually 'stand up' and speak out alone. The funny thing is, when they do, there are plenty of people who actually believe them yet still publicly slate them, just to be seen as not agreeing so they are not persecuted themselves.

Don' even get me started on this one,

It's down to a number of things I guess, some of them being:

The parents, and their lack of respect for other people, and the kids do the same.

The bleeding hearts liberals who won't let us disiplin, chastise or punish.

The courts/judicial system failing to give effective sentances.

The prisons ( and lack of them) being like holoiday camps.

The human rights fiasco ( see bleeding hearts liberals above).

                          The lack of police.

                          The police's ineptitude,

                          etc, etc, etc.

water off of a ducks back, I've seen violence and disorder on my own towns streets and never got involved.

but if it comes to my door or to my family I know within myself i am ready for anything.

I grew up to respect people who cared for me and looked out for my well-being, a lot of these feral kids just don't have anyone to lookout for them so get involved in the gang culture, it's sad for them but if they come knocking round here then they will get what they deserve.
