well im 30 and was same when i was kid tbh and i was bullied a hell of alot,but when i was 15,i broke the ringleaders leg!worked a treat lol

Yeah I was - got battered had to move schools - but learnt that of you get in peeps faces before thay get in yours you have the upper hand.

I am quite a shy person really but learnt if you have attitude you don't get picked on.

statistics dont tell the true story sir.the government before this one were bad enough at massaging the figures,taking into account 'fear of crime' figures,which lent a downwards trend to the figures.they also decided that to make the figures more 'representative' they would give all collated crime figures an upper and lower quartile range....in laymans speak ignoring extreme data,which is in my eyes is ignoring crime.the present administration have managed to a lesser extent manipulate the figures,as they are rising ,(source is national audit office data) who amongst other actions have castigated the govt for trying to spin the figures when infact all they needed doing was to be counted.
and on a personal note, i dont remember junkies panhandling you for cashetc at cash machines or youths kicking a goth to death for looking "odd"

society has changed from when i was young(and i was no angel) but none of my group of childhood friends would have dreamed of performing some of the heinous crimes that happen today,mind ther was not so much in the way of drug abuse then(and that does have a knock on effect)

friday night was a bit depressing...

a mate of mine who joined the police force 3 years ago came to see me and i hadn't seen him for about a year i guess. anyway a few of us were sitting around talking shoit as usual and then for some dumbass reason we got chatting about adult things like society and stuff.

now this cop mate told us a few stories which made me want to feck off to anywhere but this place.

don't know how it's spelt but theres apparently a big estate in pompey called leigh park or something and its a cess pit.

his colleagues went into a house there to tell someone their pensioner father had been found dead. when they come out the local kids had slashed 2 tyres on the cop car and snapped windshield wipers and kicked doors, smashed wing mirrors etc. so they call for back up and my mate roles in with a few others and rather than wait about they just got to putting on spares.

while doing this the same (probably) kids aged from about 10 to 18 started throwing stones and eggs etc at them. "what did you do about that?" says i. "Feck all" says he...apparently not much they can do, best off just getting out asap. which is what they tried to do but my mate had a cockier one come up to him and give it the Manchester strut then the football factory gob, so he went to arrest him and got nutted for his troubles.

by this time parents and other residents were out on the scene and you guessed it, started on the abuse of the coppers. so the kid that nutted my mate was finally arrested and the other scum left standing there shouting things like "we run this estate - feck off"

"so what are your lot going to do now then" says i.
"naff all" says he. same old cack. even if they went in on mass and removed the scum and press charges the boys in blue get them to court and they all get let off.

All I'm saying is that statistics are a lot closer to the truth than the most people's perceptions and the shit they pump out in the papers.

not too many people base their views on whats in the papers, but more so on own experiences. the estate where i live was a great place until about 8 ish years ago when the kids did start to get away with a little bit more year in year out until the point now when vandalism of cars and houses as well as mass littering around the place is the norm. people who don't live on estates may base their views on what they read, but those in them will definately have seen a difference.

where i live is fairly quiet in comparison to alot of other etates in the region and it still stands out as cr@p.
