It's the challenge that does it. That's why I'm stubbornly sticking.

                Nice.

It ain't easy adapting, but it's far preferable to somewhere taking the p1ss like they are with you at the moment. Your certs are close enough to other areas for you to blag through. You're just clinging a bit too avidly to the specifics at the mo. Land yourself with a job in a related area, and you'll pick it up in no time.

Yeah, I'd been in electro-optical for 8 years. Now I'm doin RF. I blagged it by knowing just enough (and talking lots about 15 year old radar experience!) and proving I'm bright enough to work the rest out!

It's pretty much the same, just longer wavelengths

Elaboration and evasion can be two very useful qualities. Bore the cr@p out of 'em or just avoid answering specifically.

It's always the same though, ain't it. You get comfy in your specific area. Never takes long to adapt to the peculiarites of a different field though.

Mark, I'm not sure how you got into this...you went for a permanent job, but you're now a contractor and loosing out big time. I think you either need to have a big argument with whoever employed you (and see if you can get what you applied for, AND recover some money), or quit and cut your losses. It all sounds a bit fu6ked up to me, to be honest. I'm starting a new IT job on monday, I hope its what it was advertised as! Never know, I might be on here in a few days asking for advice myself!
