As you all know i started a new job, Ive just spoke to the Umbrella company to ask what my TOTAL SALARY is for the last 5 weeks including the £371 in Fuel that i have used & theyve said Total Net pay is £972.69 Including Fuel .
£371 Fuel returns the tax = £21.20 so its cost me £350 to work for them in Fuel Or something like that I'M SO ANGRY

If you are paying for the fuel yourself, surely you should be reimbursed at the Inland Revenue rate of 40p per mile .

For 1632 miles that would be £652.80, all of which is tax free.

Thats the system we run at work and its what the IR recommends for the work use of private cars.

            Just a thought.

                      1045 gross
                      expenses:
                      fuel = 652.8
                      susbsistance @ £5 per day (if you leave at 8am and return home at 2pm) = 20 * 5 = £100
or if your day is 11 hours like mine (leave at 7am get home at 6pm) its £21 per day = 20 * 21 = 420

                      so, for 652.8 + 100 = 752.8 expenses

                      1045 - 752.8 = £292.2 taxable
tax is 22% i cant remember exactly how much both national insurances are so ive done them at 4% each as a rough guide

                      so £87.66 paid tax = 292.2 - 87.66 = 204.54 - 2% for umbrella fee = 204.54 - 20.9 = 183.64 take home, + 752.8 = 936.44

im still waiting for them to call me back because the daily subsistance may be more for working 6 hours.

now if you were to get home at 6pm, you would be able to claim £420 not £100, so you would get taxed even less and take home more.
                      eg 1045 - (652.8 + 420) = £1072.8 = no tax!
this has happened to me before when i first started and only worked the last 2 or 3 weeks before the end of the pay month.
i think i may of had to pay national insurance though

                          Marky,

Do you still have their ad stating how much the pay is?

Surely you have a case for either Trading Standards or Advertising Standards ?

Well, SOMEONE is making a killing out of you Marky.

I take it it's IT Support work? I bet they are charging you out at AT LEAST £40/h. I've seen a lot of that sort of thing where agencies make loads of money for sitting on their fat a$$es, and the giys who do the work get p1ss all.

You need to go self employed mate.
