General ECU question

From what I gather on here....the main ECU is the same in 2.4's and 3.0's, can someone confirm that?

I'm thinking of taking one on our trip as a precautionary measure and have access to a 2.4 I can strip.

Is the 4x4 ECU the same on both models too?

the ecu's for the 2.4 and 3.0 are different so you will need the right one for the right truck.Auto and manual ecu's are also different

Thanks Stormforce, just thought I'd check as a few people had said they were the same, also one on ebay at the moment claims it's for a 2.4 and 3.0L. I'll play it safe and listen to the pro's. Thanks

the 3.0 ecu should cost more than a 2.4 as they are rarer/harder to get hold off.Also a 3rd gen ecu is different to the 2nd gen 3.0
When i was breaking surfs i couldn't get enough 3.0's for the ecu's
