When I released the head bolts on mine I got a little 'whoosh' as pressure was released, good tug on a 2 ft breaker bar got them out. Oil em up before you put new ones back in.Alan

clean up between the valves with a little solvent, take more pics and post again, the only cracks visible to me there are on the injector seats which I think you can just replace, you might just get away with the head skimming and testing before refitting, mine were highly visible. H

whats the mark between the hole and the inlet valve? i presume the hole is where the glow plug is situated never having taken a diesel engine head off before i can only assume thats what it is, if it was a petrol head its where the plug would be

No thats the combustion port, the injector goes into head above that.Originally posted by soramad View Postwhats the mark between the hole and the inlet valve? i presume the hole is where the glow plug is situated never having taken a diesel engine head off before i can only assume thats what it is, if it was a petrol head its where the plug would be

If its deffo a crack then yes its scrap, depending where you buy another head from they'll want the old one intact from you, they reuse valves cams etc on the built heads. HOriginally posted by Surfsupdudes View Postso with that crack between the valve ports is it scrap metal?
