well the trail gear website seems to be really good and reasonable too. they do kits for 3 and 4 link suspension. with new drive shafts and half shafts to cope with all the power. the reason i chose the 2jz was to have all the power i ever needed, but just enough torque to get me where i want without blowing transfer cases, and the rest of the driveline. but the moment you start revving it it becomes an animal. i'm not building this machine for speed, no point and it would compromise my job if i were seen to be speeding now,

this truck is cool, but it is on leafs at the back. wont have much articulation either.

this truck is nice too, would look great with a nice wide arch kit and chrome/stainless side steps and spots.

Trail gear isn't bad stuff at all mate an the kits will help you overcome a few problem areas.

To be honest, As long as you know enough about what your going to attempt just from reading other builds an researching the subject so you wont come across something and panic then you'll be fine.

you'll need to get the truck high in the air to carry out all the work beneth it but it shouldn't be a big problem.

The last truck "Mr Li" is only on 35" tall tyres. There wide at 17.50 so you'll be after some 15x12 rims at the very least which whilst there not hard to come by, They will be expensive.

Same with the Micky thompson tyres. Check out the supertrux site an look at tyres an then Interco/super swamper.

The TSL comes in wide sizes as does the Irok. To fit that kind of tyre you'll want a chunky lift but not a million miles in the air kinda thing!

Looking forward to seeing how this develops! should be a smart truck!

Thats a land rover suspension set up.

masses more articulation then a stock surf but a bit of a sh!t to set up for a big lift.

Awesome work on that truck mate. Would love to see it in action.

I like the A frame you have built into it. looks well cool. how about lift then. is the set up any good for lifting? i was looking at the ready built 3 and 4 link suspension kit on trail gear. it seems to be more or less ready to weld straight on. nothing for the front axle though. seems to just be items for the rear.

Do you think you could fabricate something better, if you could i would be really interested in hearing what you have got.

If your going 'big' then 4 link is a better set up.

3 link is still fantastic for articulation! but when you put a massive lift on it the A frame makes things awkward as hell!

An im sure Surfenstein could Fab something like that up no problems mate!!

i have had some experiences with the a frame set up on landrovers, and they do work well, but not for high lift and things. its not often you have a really monstered up landrover. and thats kind of what im going for. is running four parrallel bars two each side to the axle with a panhard rod to keep it all running straight any good. i dont really want to go down the a frame road and i think its best if i reverse the sus setup for the front so it is the same for front and back. makes it easier to replace stuff and keeps the parts needed down to a minimum on breakdowns

these are the kind of things i'm looking at. obviously i wont have as hardcore articulation due to the bodywork on the surf. i wish to keep this already good looking truck looking the same so im not going to cut and shut the bodywork (except maybe the arches) Basically i was thinking about the link suspension on a big monster truck but scaled down.

Sounds like a good plan mate.

The trail gear stuff should see you right. If you need some help sorting out the panhard and mounting then Surfenstein will be your guy. He's done a few panhard rods for lifted surfs an im sure a few brackets to mount it wont be an issue.

best thing about the trail gear set up is it should be suited for the current prop shaft which will be handy an save you sub £200ish a prop.

I'd email them an check it works ok for a lift. The arms will pull the axles closer an out of the wheel arches if the main arms aren't suitable.

I'll try an dig out the link of the shocks the guy on elite4x4 is going to use. Price seemed good an they stand alone without coils so its just 4 of them, Mounting brackets an jobs a good 'un.

Have a check on a site called gwyn lewis. A guy put me onto them the other day about other stuff but i believe they do custom length braided brake lines which would be something you'd want. 4 link will give you enough articulation to pull the standard lines to hard.

check out www.summitracing.com for tyres. There useful guys an Bushwhacker on here has ordered from them. I've not got past annoying them with "how much is delivery..." but one day i hope to actually order something! If only for there catalogue.

But they can do the massive tyres pretty cheap including shipping and tax. Especially if you can hire a trailer an collect them from your nearest airport! Much cheaper!!!

Anyway, Some more food for thought for you mate!
