Why does it do this!!!!!!!

Sorry, just to make it clear (as Albannach and I are answering two different questions), when you say 'it turns for a bit then it dies', do you mean that it is turning over as normal and not firing, until eventually you run the battery down or do you mean that it only turns over for a short period of time?

have you sorted the amp out cos that was n all the time b4 you put the double din in or it mite just be you you was looking for a reason to have a go in mine again lol how many time's it jump started your now lol ........ didn't the bat's go flat the other day when you was cleaning it as well or was that the old one's

I fell asleep in France, in my 2.4 after driving through the night. I switched off but forgot to turn off my lights. After about 3 or so hours of resting, we set off again. When I started the Surf all I noticed was that it didn't start with as much oomph. Was only when I went to go through a tunnel and turn my lights on that I realised what I had done.

May be your problem is a combination of things..

dont know where to start to be quite honest.maybe i should get some big heavy duty batterys,the ones on are the spec for the surf but are only the size of a regular battery,does this matter

Oh. In that case, it's nothing to do with fuel and something to do with the electrics.

not sure,il check 2moz,i just told the company the vehicle and they supplied them batterys and said they have sold loads of them for that truck because when i picked them up i said they where much smaller than the others that where in originally,they told me thay where the right ones though

I had a a similiar problem with a Mk 3 Escort a few years ago,and a friendly local mechanic helped me find the problem! Two other garages had diagnosed the battery and the alterntor both of which were replaced! What he did was pull off the neg battery lead,swithched every thing off in the car and took out the keys,then connected a bulb between the neg lead and the battery neg terminal,and the buldb lit up,indicating a current draw! He then started to pull fuses,and relays one by one until the bulb went out. Turned out to be a faulty relay,that he replaced free of charge.Even if it's not a relay in your case,it would help to eliminate a current drain,or find what circuit your problem is on!!

ok weather permitting im on it 2moz and fitting my nice new bright special popeye heater unit,he should TM them.wish me luck.gonna try that bulb trick 1st the guy on here mentioned
