I never use mine Monday to Friday so can be parked up anywhere between 4 or 5 days to sometimes a couple of working weeks.
Youl need to determine what is lacking for the truck to start. As Sancho said it could be a fuel problem. Providing there is fuel and the glow plugs have heated then starting shouldnt be a serious problem like that.

Have you tried using the mechanical primer button before cranking to see if that helped? Press the button a good few times, the button should get stiff to press as far as I know (prividing it works correctly!)
        Oh Nana, what's my name?

when mine had new batteries i could go on holiday for a month and it always started first time, the batteries are 5 years old now and still last 2 weeks.

fuel problem or glow plugs like diesel boy said - cant be much else on a diesel motor unless its very tired - im assuming it goes fine if it starts.

just an extra thought - have you checked the electrics with a meter to make sure you dont have a current drain when its switched off - you could be trying to start it with drained batteries - also check the earth straps( all of them, batt engine etc.)

hi just out of interest my friend at work (webbo) had the same problem bad starting and somtimes not at all he had new batteries checked the glow plugs all ok then found out it was the 80amp fuse that is also connected to the cig lighter. dash heater light came on as normal but i guess the heater plugs were not getting the full amount of power. he put a new fuse in complements from a fellow member and hey presto not a problem since.
just check your cig lighter is working this might be your problem
surfs just steal all ya money

Even with a dodgy 80A fuse, the truck will still start. Do as Gary said and check for current drain, that's the only thing that will flatten new batteries in 2 days.

Just a thought, you say you have 3 Surfs that all do this? Are there any common accessories between the 3 of them? Or any mods that you've done to all 3?

Sorry, just to make it clear (as Albannach and I are answering two different questions), when you say 'it turns for a bit then it dies', do you mean that it is turning over as normal and not firing, until eventually you run the battery down or do you mean that it only turns over for a short period of time?
