According to that thread, there's one in the torque convertor. Sounds like it's more like a plastic type slip ring than an actual bearing though.

and that will give no reverse but good forward movement ......


how much is a new torque converter .as we have spent 200 atthis and need a cut off

I've no idea. Just thought it may be worth checking. Vince is the best one to advise on this. My knowledge of the autoboxes and their respective parts is minimal at best.

hey guys any idea if when i removed this cover i disturbed something relating to my reverse???? this pic is taken from passenger side, you can see the kick-down cable top middle and then there's this yokey i thought would let me get access for kickdown cable!!!!

right an update, with a very sore hungover head this morning / afternoon, i put sump back on and filled her up with ATF..... the atf has gone brown already and its only been in since last saturday and have not even done 25miles????


any hoo, results are in:

started her, got atf to mid way between lo &hi on cool, cycled through the gears up, down 3 or 4 times resting on each gear for 3 seconds a pop.....


then stuck it into reverse, nothing so gave it a bit of gas and she moved


but had to rev it around 2000rpm and above, got out of garden, did a lap of the green, pulled back into garden, well stopped and tried to reverse into garden....

no more reverse

Right then, I need to know exactly how you changed the atf and how much of it.

well i put in 9 lts and got 4 back when i drained it yesterday

i opened the drain plug on the bottom, it drained out just under 4ltrs. then to top it back up i poured it via a funnel into the ATF dipstick the orange one with the clip over it....

You need to do it again untill it stays red.
If there's still half of the old brown fluid in there, then it may as well be all old fluid.

right so whats the best way to replace it all??? the method of taking the two buckets and letting it suck from one and blow it into another????

listen i appreciate all your help and i know your sitting there....

saying why doesnt he just do what i say..... welll everytime i go to work on truck i leave laptop at home... and i forget half the things that i needed to try....
