There's definitely a time to use the search function (eg attempting a job with a bit of planning, like a roof rack, solid front axle, or 2" body lift), but equally there's a time for quick, inane questions about something you're stuck in the middle of - eg half my threads, like the "how does the expansion tank empty back into the rad/how do you drain it?" one. Sometimes the whole point of a forum is to allow those with great expertise in a given area to quickly help those, like me, with, well, less.

Having used many online forums for different things, this one has a reasonably high signal-to-noise ratio, but more importantly a very high number of very helpful posters.

As a solution, I suggest releasing Albannach onto any inane new posts. Actually scrap that, seems like he's already on the job

Just thinking about this thread I am a member of another forum, not that busy, can be sometime but not that busy.

But, they have a last posting query that can be run for the last 12, 24, 48 hours.

This is helpfull if you just want to see whats been posted recently and not have to remember what you last posted.

            My thoughts

You mean like the "quick links -> today's posts" link? Is that members only here?

I don't know why I ever bothered with this site when I got my Surf.
I already knew everything about them, I had owned loads of 4x4 vehicles before and besides, all my mates who are mechanical engineers and were willing to drop everything to come and help me at a moments notice, all owned Surfs as well.
So here's some advice to noobs, don't buy a Surf until you know everything there is to know about them.
Then and only then, can you register here and talk about anything other than Surfs.

Well its nice to see that the Hadrins Wall syndrome still exists, with People like this you find that other users do not want to partake in a forum. You then only get the same old respones from the same old people who think that they know everything about everything point in case Surf's. I am sure that the site organisers and their Mods do not need narrow minded inderviduals that have no interests in pointing out the minor site etiquettee every now and again. I am still finding my way around the site and the quick link part i didnt even apreciate until adpsimpson pointed my very silly mistake.

Thanks for the warm welcome there mate.

I think he was backing you up. But you've buggered that up by having a go at him and the rest of the Scottish contingent. Well done...

OK point taken but Noobs do need a little hand holding when they first join the sites. I did take it a little literally and yes could have been a little sharp with my response but being a Manc and i find sarcasm sometimes eludes me and thats pointing the finger at me now.
