absolutely. if i could install a few cosmetic bits and perhaps get rid off the "dead animal" smell, and get more than the £750 quid or so the 2.4's are going for i would (if i were selling), i think the guy has done a marvellous job, especially in "reinventing" his car...and i do believe its still (and i think this is right) "caveat emptor"

which i think translates as , buyer beware...dont buy a lemon

    (made that last bit up)

the problem is that the seller is justifying the price with a load of bull, i actually think he/she believes the price is fair and his surf is somehow magically worth a couple of grand more than an identical / higher spec one. All i'm saying is it's not, and there's plenty of people on here that know that too.

I see the point that in reality it's the buyer that's been the muppet, being sucked in by all this shoit, but it's the seller that's spouting it.

As I said yesterday, I'm a tad jealous

If I could get £3500 for mine cos its got some big wheels and some stickers, jeez I'd be a nutter not to bite their hand off!

What I would feel a bit shoite about is telling someone is rare because its got a sticker on the bonnet. (Which it has!)

Well, all I can say is thank you for actually proving that you don't know what you are talking about Tony N

Only SSRG's have a rear load cover as standard it. It make's absolutely no difference what size engine the Hilux has. Don't believe me take a look at the owners manual, or at this 3.0 hilux currently for sale on Ebay. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=280308929576

Dont' see one in the back of that, or the mountings for it before you even think about replying that they've taken it out.

Yet more proof that you haven't even got a clue about the basics. Heres a quote for you

"The twin battery configuration is standard on 4 diesel cylinder models with SSR-G trim or with the winter pack, they may optionally be fitted on other models, the remainders have a conventional single battery system"

            Here's a link to the site. http://www.hiluxsurf.eu/faq_service.htm
So explain to me again how ALL 3.0 2nd gens have 2 batteries?

Oh my, now we really are emabarrissing one's self. You could only have cruise control on a Hilux surf if it was an auto and then in theory it was only an option on the SSRG. There is another extract about this from the manual below if you'd like to look.

Door wind deflectors! My word do you really believe they were ever a part of any original spec on a Surf? At best these were a dealer fit option.

and the 80's style Recaros, yet again only available on the SSRG, so you know what you were talking about do you?

Originally posted by TonyN View Post

Why? The SSRG had its own particular styling with the recaro interior. So at the time it had its own appeal in the maket. Manufacturers virtually never base special editions on there very top model? They make special and ltd editions so they can charge more money and to try and grab sales by turning peoples heads with different styling or brand names. Also they sometimes do it because they've got an excess of certain types of parts at the factory when they're getting near the end of a particular model run.

Umm, actually please learn to READ. The CV boots were not torn, just perished! Meaning they are old and will need replacing in the future. Also the front tyres are legal! How ever in my opinion they wanted replacing as the tread has been worn heavily on the inside edge's. Again I like to make sure I put everyhting in a listing, I guess that must be my flaw for being honest.
Also as you don't appear to actually read anything, I will repeat the fact for you that I am putting on 2 new bridgestone dueller 265/70/15 110s tyres to match the already as new bridgetones on the back.

A scratch, a stone chip or any number of other things that damaged the paint. What the hell is wrong with you? The reason I made sure it was photo'd in the listing is that I am an honest person and wanted to make sure so there was no surpises for who ever bought the truck.

I guess I must have done some thing to offend you in a previous life for you to have such a huge chip on your shoulder, that it makes you feel you must try and rubbish what was my Hilux and is now some one elses. Or is it just the big bully syndrome, that someone has called you out and you are now lashing out along with some of your chronies.

All the listing ever was as a thorough description of the Hilux and all the different features it has, along with its faults, pure and simple. Sorry If that annoy's you but I will not, and never will hide or omit things from a listing.

he didn't rip anyone off, he advertised his truck how he wanted to for the price he wanted on an auction website. He gambled and it payed off.
A punter comes along obviously very happy with what he saw and willingly handed over the cash. He wasn't forced to.
It's not the sellers problem that the bidder/buyer didn't research what he was buying.
If the buyer is a member on here then shame on you, if they aren't and have been reading this thread then I don't think they'll want to be now.
I agree, Ebay ads like that annoy me, thats all. I'm not saying its right or wrong, just gets my back up. I was expressing my opinion on the ad and the truck.

I fail to see how it matters if the buyer is a member or not, they can man up and say hi, or not, dosn't matter. They still have lots more to learn about the truck from the forum. Lots of people have been shafted on buying a surf, at least 50% of new members post start "i've just got this truck and this or that is broken, paid this much, etc ........" it really dosn't matter.

With respect to Morr's website, I have never seen a 2.4 EFI or 3.0 2nd Gen with only battery (I have seen a lot of Surfs), cold weather trucks have a fuel heater, winter spec trucks have heated mirrors, Kitesurf phil had one.

The ad is still annoying, get over it, you sold the truck, whats the problem?

I never questioned your manhood, just laughed at some of the statments in the ad.

Is that so hard to live with?
