i was expecting by the way things were going in the office and the way the manager was talking that there would be a position in the office for me.I would of taken a pay cut with compensation for loss of earnings which i was expecting to be told today but i can't see my payout being enough to pay the mortgage off tho and if so then the house and everything will be on the line now as i won't get another job with 23k a year to cover the mortgage and living

have you got a green card (registered dissablement) if not you need to sort one, then asap, sign on, before that if you have any savings transfer them to your wife or kids so you sign on with nought, a visit to the citizens advice might be a good idea, ask what you are entitled to and keep your union membership going untill your claim is settled.
As you are laid off 'unfit for duties' that could well mean extra-fraid I dont know, keep a record of all job enquiries , offers and refusals as it could help your case and bear in mind as you are unable to carry on in your area of expertise that should entitle you to retraining - dont be tempted to give a too positive answer to the 'what can you do' question - you are a p way worker and have no skills or expertise in anything else!, I believe you could well quallify for incapacity benifit-industrial injury, if you want a chat you know where I am, I tried to give a positive attitude when I had to leave the service on suposed health grounds....ended up cutting my own throat and loosing out big time. anyway good luck mate
tonyDid I mention I have a BLUE one
