Btw, I gave partial costs. Pretty hard to compare from a partial tally. Plus, I have zero revenue/income from the site, in any way or form. Besides, I am not trying a t1t for tat approach. It was merely the answer to a specific question asked. It was not intended as a yardstick to measure by.
You want ideas? In order of unobtrusiveness and return:
1) Setting up a useful and reliable shop.
2) Donations.
3) Site sponsors.
4) Indirect sponsorship through forum related sales.
5) Indirect sponsorship through forum related recommendations.
6) Company advertising space and associated fees.
7) Generic web advertising. (The likes of Google and such).
Those are the ones that come to mind offhand. That is not a complete list, however.
