Yup. Before electric, hardware, maintenance, my time or anything else is taken into consideration, just shy of £500p.a.
Matt, do you know how many emails and pm's Nigel gets a day? No i don't suppose you do! He is not looking for compensation for the time he spends answering these or for the time he spends doing all the admin on the site all Nigel is trying to do is cover most not all of the cost of keeping this forum going, which I believe at the moment is costing at least double what you say yours costs.
Nigel is open to all suggestions and ideas on how he can do this.
i dont mind paying a tenner ,but i think it will scare some off ,
best make the wanted @ for sale section for members who subscribe,
been noticing that people who have put in the wanted section for trucks are getting offers from people who have not put there trucks up for sale thereby avoiding paying for ad, naughty naughty
Getting back to the subject in hand I have a suggestion
Some of us here do or could make the effort at times to suppliment our incomes - for example Apache with his stickers or Yeti with his occasional clearouts.
Why not use a small amount of the webspace on the server for members microshops, the space rented on a monthly basis.
It's not rocket science to create a small shop site using paypal facilities, and if you are having a clearout you could easily more than cover the charge, and benefit the site with the extra income.
With a naming convention of say www.hiluxsurf.co.uk/membername members could gain from the usual bots crawling round as well to appear in google listings.
It's an idea I'm throwing into the melting pot to help with the upkeep of the site.
Not sure it would suit me Trev, as I'm not aiming to make huge money as I dont want to attract tax man attention - its more of a self financing hobby - but it sounds like a cracking idea for small businesses.
