Nigel is open to all suggestions and ideas on how he can do this.

Hell, that must be an expensive shared host. No, I have no idea how many e-mails or PM's he answers. Nor can I see as that is relevant. If it is such a problem, he can always delegate to moderators. That is his choice to maintain control of everything.

Btw, I gave partial costs. Pretty hard to compare from a partial tally. Plus, I have zero revenue/income from the site, in any way or form. Besides, I am not trying a t1t for tat approach. It was merely the answer to a specific question asked. It was not intended as a yardstick to measure by.

You want ideas? In order of unobtrusiveness and return:

    1) Setting up a useful and reliable shop.

    2) Donations.

    3) Site sponsors.

    4) Indirect sponsorship through forum related sales.

    5) Indirect sponsorship through forum related recommendations.

    6) Company advertising space and associated fees.

    7) Generic web advertising. (The likes of Google and such).

Those are the ones that come to mind offhand. That is not a complete list, however.

Well I like the idea, and it sounds like one which wouldn't rile anyone which makes it the best idea so far!

If the sticker thing ever takes off, I'd go for it.

You can abuse me as much as you like matey - I am not one that cares - some people can't take it and the plot gets lost and it looks bad for the site
How can I be lost when I've got no where to go

              • Id be happy to pay a yearly subscription of a tenner because I have got and probabley will get a lot more help to keep my truck on the road.I would leave it up to the regular payers/users to frequently embaress those who are slow to pay.Eventualy we could just ignore those who ask but dont subscribe.

                • My ten quids worth (even though I paid me subs in Jan and have no blue star....)

I really don't mind paying a tenner a year to have full access to this site - I'm pretty sure there's no search facility available unless you're paid up...

The info on here is very valuable, as is having access to people who know these trucks inside out and are willing to give us advice for free.

Maybe approach the 'usual suspects' mentioned whenever anyone asks about places to buy spares, get a new head or a huge lift and see if the forum could get some 'cashback' from a voucher code or something.

                  Rob.

                    • I really dont think ignoring non-paying members is a good idea. Encouraging people to hang around and letting them see the benefits of this place is surely better?

I'm really leaning towards the sponsorship ideas, and Trev's idea a few posts back.
