Yup. Before electric, hardware, maintenance, my time or anything else is taken into consideration, just shy of £500p.a.

How is it a loss? Other than actual paid work related to my trade, anything else I ever do is freely done both for the benefit of myself and for other people. I expect nothing and ask nothing in return. If I ever wanted the website to make any money, it would be hosting a shop, or some other such commercial section. Charging others for helping people is not my idea of an income generation method, however.

Why do people post on here in response to threads in the tech section? To help other people. Would you ever consider asking anyone for anything in return for helping them with their problem on here?

It's like a damned plague.

I think your missing the point, if it is not self sufficiant then it will not be an available tech resource will it. and everyone looses (don't they)

Then sell it to someone who is willing to keep it freely available. I don't agree with the subscription method. Period.

No way, my dad looks after his cars and keeps them clean, so his truck will still be good enough for me when i'm older.
It's got a V8 in it you know!

You'll probably be able to help him finish it, when you're about 30 or so

I think to keep this site as useful and open as possible but without anyone bearing the brunt of any costs it would be better to make the paying subs a bit more obvious.

this has already been said and I think my tenner is well spent because of the excellent info available here.

My previous post of only allowing 5 posts would need modified (too strict I think) but somewhere there is a point that newbies will get to when they realise that the site offers so much that the £10 looks like excellent value, which it is.
