aircraft cable is just a generic term used for wire rope. Wouldnt worry about the cable size, 9 mm is plenty. we use a maximum of 6mm for off the shelf cable to lift 1 ton. it is said by the manufacturer that this cable as been tested to 7 times its rating, but i wouldnt like to find out... just keep well away from it when winching, and inspect regular to check for inperfections, twisting etc!CHEERS JOHN................

i've got the 12,000lb winch and have nop had a prob to date, it's a good winch, although it's not a top brand it will do what you want it to do. just remember to fix it using high grade bolts. i've used it to pull out tree stumps and large concrete posts.
@nero i've fitted my winch with no problems as far as air flow, it all depends where you install the winch but i can't see anyone having it directly in front of the grill. just my opinion
if ya want any more advice let me know
heres mine
