                Got the adjustable mount from ebay.usa. Makes removal every easy.

                  The one I just bought is a tad narrower than din, as the din mount has spacers on the inside to make the hole smaller.

                  see here.

                    Where can i find out about the regulations governing the usage of a CB. I actually did not realise that CBs were still on the market as I thought the fad had died out.
                    We had one in our truck in South Africa and when you purchased it, you then paid a small amount for a licence fee and that was the end of the story and you could use it anywhere.

                      As far as I know, the CB licence has been abolished.

                              Right then!

                              Got the cb installed into surf, amidst mucho foul language and cursing, I hate fitting stuff into cars.

                              All went ok, but I can't get the SWR down below 3, and don't seem to be able to here anything exept static ( although it's poss that there is nobody out there)

                              so the options are;

                              1) cut/trim antenna ( blurb on website says all antennae should be pretuned)

                              2) have faulty mag mount/cable or connection

                              3) have ground plane problem with body of surf

                              4) faulty SWR meter ( it is 20 years old)

                              5) I am a Complete numpty and have cocked something up

                              Any ideas?

                                i would guess the most likely cause is the groundplane. Is the SWR constant across the whole range? or does it get better at one end or the other?
