So before i do any thing to boost the power of my 2.4 i would like to mod the viscious fan so i can switch it on manually, can this be done?, I'll have a search on that one, I was following the Vagrant's post on three way switching but his is a 1st gen petrol so mine'll be different i expect, Also i would like to vent the hood and if possible with fan assistance. got two roof vents that might do if i can colour match em (or get em chromed,) Need to cool her down as much as poss.
the design of the viscous fan means you cant switch it on or off. you can for the electric fan though.

Yep! sorry, of course, I'm sure i saw somewhere that its the sensor at the front of the stat houseing and by dissconecting a wire (fitting a switch in line)
the fan comes on, Could you comfirm this before i start cutting wires and bugger the thing up, Cheers Ian

I heard mine cut in for the first time on Friday. Now I know it's been warm for the last few days, but I don't think it's any hotter than it was a few weeks back when we had another hot spell. However, temp gauge remains rock solid at just under half-way as before...

Yes Dave. Engine temp remains constant though.

                Thanks.
I feel I should point out that Micky B helped me out with fitting mine, which is why I could help you...

its difficult to tell the elec fan is on without being outside the car so it may have come on more often than you think

It might just be mine that's noisy. I do also drive with the window
open partially, so that may also be why I notice mine.

Well, just used the old metric/imperial converter to work out my new MPG.

To put this into perspective, I drive mostly around town, journeys of 2 miles or so. Stop start stuff. My pre-Bobbox MPG was 20-21 max. It's now 17 odd.

I have now fitted a Ripspeed cone filter into the original airbox. If anyones intrested I will post on how I did it, but beware, it involves a drainpipe bend!

I will continue to monitor perfomance/mpg with the new filter to see how it goes.

                          Cheers,

                          Shab.
