Ok. I got a quote from a local campsite.

As its bank holiday weekend he wants £42 per plot (tent or caravan or truck) for two nights, thats Saturday and Sunday. I feel this is expensive, but if the majority vote that this is ok then I can book it. BUT I do need a £15 deposit by Monday 21st Feb. I know its short notice, but its the only site I can find close to the plains that can accomodate everyone. I have got 25 pitches on hold but PLEASE guys I need to know by thursday lunchtime.

Failing this, I have plan B or C.

Plan B - We can all rendezvous at the Pub on the plain on Saturday evening for Sunday/Monday laning. BUT you will have to sort your own accomodation out. If anyone wants some camp site details then PM me or do a google search for Wiltshire campsites.

          OR

Plan C - Does anyone local know of a field/common land that we can use as a site and give the land owner a fair drink for the use of?

Please give me you feedback ASAP. This could be a good w/e but I need your support.

          TIA

          Dan

Unfortunately that IS discounted. I rang 9 campsites around the area and they are all booked or cant/wont accept that amount of bookings. Quote "It is bank holiday weekend and I can get more money for caravans than tents", among other excuses. Balls! Theres also a classic bike rally going on in the area too, so lots have booked for that. Its a shame really, but not a lot more I can do about it! Sorry.

                  PANIC OVER

I have just spoken to someone who is prepared to let us use his garden and the land behind in exchange for a donation to charity of £10 per tent, for TWO nights camping. Also spoken to the landlord of the PUB opposite who will allow the caravans in his carpark and the use of his function room and bar, for the evening for FREE as long as we all eat there!! Those sleeping in their trucks can use the MOD carpark opposite.

                  Now that is a plan

ask them if it can go in the macmillan fund as that's the charity of the moment.

It may be the charity of the moment but the tin seems to only have a button ratteling in it ! Hint , hint .

I would like all the donations to be in by 3rd April. Can you please post them to me with a note to say who its from and what you are sleeping in and if you have dogs.

I will suggest the macmillan fund. I don't think he's that worried, as long as it goes to charity. Good bloke if you ask me!

Theres still more room if anyone else wants to come.

I'll be up for that one

We won't camp cos we're only 3 miles away from where I think you're talking about camping But we'll come down for some beer of the nighttime. Wife said she'll drive back or I'll walk

Got hold of some 1:25000 maps today. I'll get the wife to put them in the post to you
Danno used my Truck and did'nt break it!
