I would really like attend this weekend as the last time I was on Salisbury Plain was 27 years ago driving a Chieftain Tank (no problem with the water) as part of my army training
ahhh...something in me has just made me think this sounds like a good idea. its not too far away. trouble is my idea of off roading is dealing with all the crappy devon lanes, the occasional green lane and general stuff.
the concept of use the diff stuff might require some quick advise!!!
ill have a think about it. is there any cost...apart from the camping ie. permits etc (thinking of the wallet as usual)

As I say below there are plenty of options and the muddy stuff generally has an option with an easier route nearby. This is not an extreme offroad site, but a series of byways and permitted routes across Salisbury Plains and the surrounding area, so you dont need a permit, and there is no entrance fee. The only cost (as you say apart from camping) is food, beer and fuel...
Come along - we'll help you out with any advice, and you wont need any special set up on the surf.
I think I only spend about 20 quid for a full days off roading in fuel. And that includes laning all the way home from the Plains to Winchester (about 20miles).
When I have an idea of numbers, I'll get a rough price for the camping. Group bookings always get a discount!

I meant the fuel he'll use driving up from Devon!!!!
Bugger, just realised that it will clash with my annual visit to The Pink Pimms Party. So I will not be about for the whole weekend as I will be in Oxford Sunday morning to drink a dustbin full of Pimms No1, eat dodgy BBQ food and set up an airial runway, all whilst wearing pink!
I'll see you all Friday and Saturday, but May 1st belongs to Pimms!
