Mudsurfer - can you look for the Friday campsite with a view to us (possibly) doing a shortish night run?

The other alternative is that we plan the saturday route to get to the north end of Strata Florida and do that north to south (saturday evening).

Only prob is we will be setting camp in the dark (sat) and you'll miss the glorious views (unless we go up and down it on the saturday???)

Have downed tools... (Neve's bedroom is finished!) Vicki can tidy up...

Andy, there is no problem running up Strata Florida on Sunday during the day too. I do think that Strata is a good choice for a night run as we know it well so there's no nasty surprises (except for Rob's puddle ). It would also fall nicely on time for us arriving down south.

As for the camp, could we not camp somewhere towards the South end of Strata actually along the route? I'm thinking somewhere down towards the area we park en-route? Any flat land there for tents? We would need to be self sufficient, but that shouldn't pose a problem really.

Then we have the advantage of waking up in a beautiful place, and we get STRAIGHT down to business on the route!

Strata Florida is fairly easy if you stick to the main route, so you should be OK (as long as you stay away from puddle edges!). However, the second route we will do on the Saturday is pretty tough from what I remember. If you're OK with that, Strata is a walk in the park - though scenicly one of the best you'll find.

How would you rate Wayfarer, Mudsurfer?

          OK - here's a kind of plan.

Friday - arrive at Camp Mud (location secret at the mo) drink beer, have a barbie - no night run.

Sat morning - break camp - do the Wayfarer and one other - stop for late lunch - do the 4th Snowdonia run (can't wait).

Head south by the late afternoon/early evening arrive at north end of Strata Florida. Night run. Stop towards southern end and set up Camp Boyo (that sounds so bent! I am the only.....). Drink beer have a barbie?

Sunday morning - break camp - muck about on Strata Florida - head south to Llyn Brianne (scenic route not off road). Get to Brecon and do Sarn Helen north to south (the tough way).

Arrive Neath - M4 - by 3ish and say our goodbyes.

          A cunning plan, m'lord.

I agree. Sounds superb! I reckon 3 runs before heading South is a bit sporty though. I deffo wanna do the 4th snowdonia run, so it may just mean we just do Wayfarer OR Whitestones.

Just found out it might be my boy's half term start on Friday so may be able to bring him with me if I can get his mum to meet me somewhere near Camp Mud.

If you check back in the thread it runs parallel to the coast near Tywyn. It's a pretty harsh rocky trip but enjoyable and doable with a standard truck so certainly wont pose you a problem after your mods!

John Sally did it in a standard 3rd gen. Good wasn't it John?

any one know if the local coucils have lists of lanes avail coz while in Cornwell there council put little signs up at the start of every lane, in wales it seems to be a close gaurded secret
