Okay, I've watched a few Youtube vids of Weardale and I think all the ones I've seen must be of hardcore off roaders. I don't want to be a spoilsport when I go for the weekend but I don't fancy hammering the living daylights out of my beloved Surf!
I take it there are some gentle off road tracks for a complete beginner like me? The thought of muddy water swilling around in the cab and ruining my carpets just ain't appealing.
Mind you, I look forward to watching the real pros having a go at the harder sections of the course!
Roll on the 22nd of July!'Tis better to sting than to be stung!

Gentle tracks don't tend to make great vids, that's why you only ever see the mudplugging balls out zooks, or tight technical bit's, or people getting it wrong. Never been there, but i'm sure there's some nice gentle stuff too.=========

Cheers for the link ! Ive just been on you tube watching it Thinking there are some deep ruts wondering if my surf with standard shocks and springs on will get roung without ploughing the place flat lol. I feel i will have to go out there and get my truck lifted up a foot and a snorkel up above the roof and some nobblies on, cos when i start driving round my mind will go blank and it will be in my head that i can go anywhere. (thats when my problems start) Then i pay the concequences.. But with a big smile like this So ill be there in my standard ish surf thenLast edited by v8 jeep; 30 June 2007, 18:38.

Like most off-roading sites there are hard bits and there are easy bits. You do what you want, and no-one will think any the less of you if you decide not to do a section. We all understand that if your Surf is your only vehicle (like it is for most of us) damaging it out of use is a complete no-no. However, you'll be surprised at how much you will be able to do easily that your first thoughts will have been 'no way'.
Oh, and lifting your Surf will have no effect on ground clearance (except the break-over clearance - going over a hump). The main problem is the diffs, and the only way to get extra clearance there is bigger tyres - for which you need the lift if you go over 31inch.Paul </Slugsie>
