      Haven't looked into it, but you have a steering rack and I don't think 3rd gens have a 'rag' joint.
      The sloppyness in the steering is cause by worn rack bushes.

        I changed the rack bushes the other year, can't say I've noticed any sloppiness in the steering at all.

        Just thought it would be one of those mods even I could undertake.
        If its not broke don't fix it.

              theres not much point in a plate if the rag joints removed - it bolts straight up. a plate wont make it any stronger or give any benefit.

              you only need to lengthen the shaft if it has been lifted and i'm sure yoshie will have a wee bit pipe to glue on.

              i think vince made a spacer cos he didn't have any pipe to hand.

              you will notice the difference in the steering straight away
