99% of other Surfs are running around quite happily. Its easy to get carried away with everyone giving advise and opinions (half of which are second hand, the Web is the biggest 'you don't wanna do that....' guy around! Me included, not a dig at anyone.) but your not towing 2 tons of trailer across the Sahara desert on a highly modified engine!

If stops becoming fun, don't do it! Just relax and get back to driving the thing.

Agreed Tony. Mine is a standard 2.4L TD. The only time mine has got near to overheating was when towing the caravan up Blackwood Hill in Devon. Even then the temp guage only went to the high end of the normal bit. Just as a precaution I opened both heaters to assist with the cooling.
I think that the rear facing bonnet vents are probably the way to go. There is a hell of a lot of stuff under that bonnet to restrict the airflow.
BTW. I still have the grin 16 months on .
PS. My rad has had a slight weep along the top since I bought the truck. So-far-so-good.
    It's only a hobby!

Just received a Rad from "Hilux Bob"....

What can I say, it almost looks new . Great service, prompt and exactly what it says on the tin . Bob packaged it up well, and it arrived without being kicked about by Securicor .

Off to get it recored... and modded...
