they do more then just clean the injectors in an ultasonic bath, they will replace the nozzle and test the spring tention and shim the springs to aquire pressure and proper spray pattern as well as replace the crush washer's.

my old Merc had a problem where it would sometimes struggle to start and be lumpy when it did....

then I realised it was always when parked nose up-hill.

hmm... turned out there was a leak on the fuel pipe to the injectors, and when pointed uphill, the fuel drained out, air got in, and it would appear you cant run a diesel engine on air alone...... solved by tightening the nut on the intectors!

anyway, what i'm saying is it could be a leak in a pipe allowing air into the system. and its starting fine upto 3 hours NOT because its still warm, but it hasnt had time to leak!!!!

Maybe, but this is Britain, we do everything half arsed or get an immigrant to have a go at it.

im going to try and tighten up my injectors and pipes, i will see what happens. but wouldnt the hand plunger be soft ,or wouldnt there be a visable fuel leak ?

i decided to check my crankcase pressure on my valve cover and there seems to be alot of pressure coming out of the pipe, not losing any oil but does not feel rite, what is normal for crankase pressure?

Kit05, how did you check the pressure? A gauge of some sort or did you use your hand? BUSHWHACKER, for my next stupid question/s, how do i find this Diesel bob, is he a forum member or is he a company on the net? Also, how much are the rebuilt injectors?

just by hand, not to familiar with diesel engines, going by what a petrol engine, i guess there would be more pressure from the crankcase on a diesel but not really sure.

Whats your thinking behind the crankcase pressure? Dont think that would affect your starting would it?

thinking my compression is messed, piston rings might be hooped

Oh right, i thought for some reason you had checked compression already. Thats definatly something to check though, do a compression check and if something is amiss on any cylinder then get a leakdown test carried out so you can tell where your losing compression from. I'm not too familiar with diesel engines either.

had a test done a few months back but im thinking its on its way out, most likely need a ring job as my head was just done

I wouldn't condemn it just yet without getting a leakdown test done, otherwise your just acting on supposition and not fact. It would be a shame to get rid of an otherwise good car that just has a bit of a starting problem.

was thinking the valve stem seals as there is negative pressure at the oil dipstick

I cant really understand how you would can have negative at the dipstick tube and positive at the valve cover breather, they should both be the same seeing as they're both linked through internal oil drain back pathways. I would ignore what your seeing from the breathers unless it's lots of smoke or excessive amounts of oil.

i am thinking to be on the safe side i am going to remove the head and push the pistons up through the bottom and redo the rings, while i am at it i am goint to replace the valve stem seals, i guess i will see how it turns out
