It could be something simple as the timing belt has jumped a tooth on the fuel pump sprocket, did the garage check the timing marks are aligned?

TIME TO UPDATE
FIRST- The only diesel bob i could find is 200 miles away up the north!!
SECOND-I have called a local diesel chap and he thinks it's air getting into the system,
or the fuel pump.
He said sometimes it's because the pipe in tank is off or split.
He wants me to bypass the tank by fitting a small tank under bonnet to see if the shakeing stops.
i have a tank and have taken the return feed from the prime tank off and plumbed this into one end of tank and now looking for feed to main pump,is it the one with a with a white stripe on it?this is mounted into the top of fuel pump and connets to a metal pipe just in front of prime pump..
