mornin' m8
just popped into the local garage and had a chat with the Mot tester there (top bloke called dave, but that's not important)
He tells me that the guide on foglights is dead clear and what they have to check is:
1. the switch can be easily & safely reached from the driver's seat (that's why they shouild sit in the car to use the switch)
2. the switch has a light to tell you it's on
3. the foglights work (if you have more than one, as long as the offside one works, it should pass)
hope this helps

My switch is just under the steering wheel by my right leg. Its just a standard switch that lights up when the fog lamp is on. It may be the MOT tester was being a bit piccy. Where is your switch and did he fail the truck on it?

hi yes it's has been put down under steering wheel down on the right hand side, but it is so far down that panel i think he had trouble seeing it was on.it didn't fail but he put it on the comments/recommend page, when i spoke to him he said it should be moved to center consol.

Mine is fitted under the idle up and suspension switches and it passes the MOT every time!

being a mot tester myself i can honestly say ive never failed a vehicle for a switch being in the wrong place!!as long as its secure, accessable from drivers seat aand has a 'tell tale' fitted it should be fine...jobsworths like that give us a bad name ha ha.. also the fog light itself doesnt have to be fitted to the offside (drivers) side it can be in the centre as well!DONT RUN WIV BIG DOGS IF U CANT PI** UP TALL TREES
