Hello mate. I have never heard of a fog light switch being in the wrong place!! I am sure somone on here will say different if I am wrong. My switch is just under the steering wheel by my right leg. Its just a standard switch that lights up when the fog lamp is on. It may be the MOT tester was being a bit piccy. Where is your switch and did he fail the truck on it?

      mornin' m8

just popped into the local garage and had a chat with the Mot tester there (top bloke called dave, but that's not important)

He tells me that the guide on foglights is dead clear and what they have to check is:

      1. the switch can be easily & safely reached from the driver's seat (that's why they shouild sit in the car to use the switch)
      2. the switch has a light to tell you it's on
      3. the foglights work (if you have more than one, as long as the offside one works, it should pass)

      hope this helps

hi yes it's has been put down under steering wheel down on the right hand side, but it is so far down that panel i think he had trouble seeing it was on.it didn't fail but he put it on the comments/recommend page, when i spoke to him he said it should be moved to center consol.

That's where the one on my 2.4 is, and never a comment come MOT time.

never heard of a right or wrong place as long as it is wired with the lights so it does not get left on when the lights are not on....shame the manufacturers do not make the lights disengage when the lights are killed...

being a mot tester myself i can honestly say ive never failed a vehicle for a switch being in the wrong place!!as long as its secure, accessable from drivers seat aand has a 'tell tale' fitted it should be fine...jobsworths like that give us a bad name ha ha.. also the fog light itself doesnt have to be fitted to the offside (drivers) side it can be in the centre as well!

Far as I know, they don't have to be off if the other lights are.
