The engine is a self contained unit i.e. everything is bolted to it apart from the AFM ( Red circle) and the igniters. (Yellow circle)

I use the bonnet struts as well, (green outline) on the Surfs.

The alternator wiring is in a plastic conduit thats bolted to a crossmember and runs under the engine to the fusebox/battery on the other side, make sure you remove it otherwise you be lifting the whole front end of the car when you come lift the engine out!

Chop a hole in the transmission tunnel and cut through the propshaft just behind the rubber joint, snip the secondary 02 sensor wires where they pass through the floor for the CATS in the downpipes (not needed) and lift the engine/transmission out as one unit. Together they weigh roughly the same as the Diesel engine!!

Bin the CATS or take them to the scrap dealer (Worth £20 each) but cut off and save the flanges where they meet the downpipes, you'll need them when you come to fabricate your exhaust.

Disconnect the loom at the ECU (Three grey plugs wrapped together) and pull the loom through the firewall, but make sure you save the fourth grey ECU plug. Just snip all the wires going to it leaving approx six inches.

The ECU is up behind the glovebox by the way.

If the Lexus ignition key has a chip in it, (push buttons and/or small screws holding the plastic part together) you'll need to save the plastic ring that the key goes through when inserting it into the ignition (key reader) and the transponder unit that it plugs into. The transponder is close to it on the steering column.

Oh and save the power steering pipework, especially the banjo fitting and bolt on the steering pump.
      There we are, carry on.........

            No.
Fit the v8 & transmission with transfecase into the Surf, reconnect both props and then fabriicate your mounts.

P.S. Forgot to mention the brake servo hose on the Lexus, make sure you save it.

Just the Lexus loom plus the fourth ECU plug, the one marked 28p.

                    Hi mate me again
Will the 2.4 rad work with a filler cap in the hoses like some of your pics?
As they look the same size?
Or does it have to be a 3.0l rad ?
                    Thanks again

The 2.4 rad works OK, I just prefer to use the 3.0 rad as they are taller so have more capacity. Plus the rad cap is on the top.

                        Update

So was gonna go fishing today but decided to make a start on the v8 removal.
Started at 10:00 and had it out on the stand with the box next to it by 15:00.
The hardest part was by far the top down pipe bolts above the cats!
Cost me two extension bars! Broke by brute force with no impact tools involved, not the best make, but still!
Just a few quick questions for vince if he doesn't mind.
Do I block off both parts of the egr as I can see two pipes? So I block off 4 ports in total?
Do I keep the lexus selector or does the surf work?
Do I keep the lexus throttle cables?
And what exactly do I need to send to you again?
Thanks in advance mate I'm sure your very busy,
                        Your advice is invaluable
