  • Hi vince how's it going?
Just curious about what relay to get for the fuel pump? Is it just a normal 4 pin?
Also will a normal 4 pin one run both fans? Or do I need one for each?
    Many thanks

I've included and wired up all the fuses and relays, including one for the fuel pump.
There are five relays and a four-way fuse box.

The wires you need to connect when you get the loom back are:

      Battery positive.
      Earth.
      ECT.
      O/D.
      Tacho.
      Reverse lights.
      Temp gauge.
      Speedo.
      Oil pressure sender.
      Engine crank trigger wire.
      Ignition 12v wire.
      Permanent 12v wire (ECU memory)

I've also included an engine check light on a flying lead that you can mount somewhere in the dash, plus there's a wire coiled up near the ECU that you can either earth through a small switch to put the ECU into diagnostic mode or just use a paper clip in the terminals in the diagnosis port on the engine like you would normally.

All wire ends are labeled and the photos I'm e-mailing you will show where they go.

I've found the large white and grey plugs that connect behind the (Surf's) ECU, and I've also got the wiper motor plug.
Haven't unearthed the transfercase wiring yet, it's been like the end of the world outside today, so I've been battening down the hatches!

Re: cooling fans, there's a relay built into the adjustable thermo switch, (If you bought the one from the parts list) so you just need one relay (30a) for the other fan.

        • Ok just a quick post on my experience with some knob jockey on eBay!
This is how the messages went
Me: hi I'm after some bits of loom for a surf, do you still have it?
eBay seller: yes £60 for bits of the loom
Me: ok does that inc postage? I'm after the transmission parts of the loom and the connectors just inside the passenger footwell?
eBay seller: £2000 for the engine and gearbox.
Me: I don't want the engine just some parts of the loom.
eBay seller: ok £200 for the loom.
Me: 2 messages ago you said £60 now it's £200? I could get a new one made for less!
eBay seller: ok you should have bought it when we quoted £60.
Me: ok thanks for your help, I think I will take my business elsewhere as your customer assistance does not fill me with confidence that you will even send me the right parts.
          What a plonker!

              • Bit of an update, been busy with work so not had a lot of time but I have most of it back together now, nearly there I think.
Few questions for vince though, been lots of those!
Do I loose all the egr stuff on the side of the plenum?
I looked at the photo in the x thread, looks like all is removed but what do you do with the connectors? Just snip off?
                One more
The two pipes under the butterfly, one that goes to the rocker cover, where does the other go?
T/case loom is in the post.
                Cheers buddy

I make a blanking plate to replace the egr module. See Lexurf VII for photos.
Just tape over the plugs and tuck them under the plenum.

The two smaller diameter pipes under the throttle body are for coolant to prevent icing in colder climates. I bypass them and just run a length of hose from front to back.

                        • Thanks dude
                          Two more ha!
Where do you connect the brake servo pipe?
And what does the resonator box do? Does it just dull down the noise when accelerating?
                          Thanks again

At the back of the inlet plenum, there's a small banjo fitting where the hose pipe originally connected to the Lexus' servo.

Yeah it's just a noise suppressor.
I cut the box part off and cove the hole so you're left with just the black tube.

R these two vacuums ok to go together?
One is at the back of the plenum the other is coming off the fuel rail diaphram.
