  • Any idea how much the bar raises by? The pic is a little deceiving, the gap from the sump to the bar is about 12 -15 mm
    Thanks

    • I got another 6 hours on it again today, with Vince's comment about the steering relay bar ringing in my ears! I decided to check on how much the relay bar under the sump actually rises. I pulled out the two rubber bung things that hold the rubber mat things at either end of the steering relay bar, this allowed me to slide in a bit of 12mm stud which I could then measure to.
For some reason mine seems to be at its highest in the center when both wheels are straight, when the steering is on full lock it drops down by 8mm both ways. So I'm fairly happy that the bar will clear the sump, if not due to the mounts compressing I will add a few washers in behind the mounts to lift the engine a few mm.
So after that i finished fabbing the mounts, I got both the side ones done and painted, and got most of the t/box done, I just need to drill the holes.
I used 6mm metal with an arc welder so those bad boys ain't goin no where.
Will post a few more pics tmrw.
Any news on the loom vince?
      Thanks

      • Another update
Got about 5 hours on it today
        Finished the t/box mount.
Started on the brakes, new disks and pads and braided flexis.
Found that two out of the 8 pistons are seized up solid!
Great more money for new ones !
Luckily I just sold a few more bits off the lexus and the oily lump so I can afford new ones :-)
        More tmrw

        • Update

Got a bit more done today, re located the steering damper.
I just followed the what vince had done and bolted it to the steering lock bars that hang down. I over engineered it slightly as if I hit a kerb it's what stops the steering wheel from breaking a wrist.

                          • Looks like you've made a nice job of that exhaust.
I think you may have done this before as its not easy.

I tried to build my own exhaust and failed miserably,
ended up getting a stainless system built.
                            Still on a mission.

                            • I have played around with exhaust before but never made a custom one, it's not easy trust me but I'm getting there, having a selection of pre made bends helps a a lot. I will hopefully have it up near the engine bay a bit later so I'll post a few more pics.
