I can assure you the bare head is an AMC one.I don't see the point in paying far someone elses second hand camshaft when you can keep your own.OK I know there's a little more to it than that, but both of the cylinder heads I changed the camshaft wear was nearly un measurable. If your prepared to spend a couple of hours grinding the valves and reassembling there's a couple of hundred quid to be saved!!
Water pump is not essential,as it's quite easy to change without getting involved with anything else.

    Regards

If it's AMC then I'll definitely look at doing the rest of the work myself, I've done a few 16valve motorcycle heads before so this will hopefully be easy enough. like you say I know my cam and valves are ok why would I want someone else's 250000 mile shaggers.
Apart from grinding in the valves and shimming them up what else needs to be done to the new head? I read about injector seals will these come in the gasket set?

Thanks for all the info guy's.

Building your own, braver than me!!
Injector seats came with the AMC head, seals came with the gasket set.

        Cheers

I'm quite tight and skint and I like a challenge!
I've just priced up the bare head with gaskets, bolts, manual, oil and filter, genuine thermostat, and it all comes to about £100 LESS than the built head!

There was a little issue with the kit last year in that not all the gaskets were in the kit.I had to buy the copper injector seat gaskets and the nozzle leak off gaskets from Toyota France (Thieving barstewards they are!!)

apart from lapping and shims nothing else to do other than swear alot when the collets won't go into place

Argh collets, I've just realized that my motorcycle valve spring compressor probably won't fit around a Surf head
