just finished head rebuild, having difficulty getting the thing to start, primer on fuel filter went hard, turned over no joy, no fuel squirting from pipe on injector when i cracked it and turned it over.
tried cranking for a while, may need to get booster cables on soon.
fuel primer is going hard after a few pumps, should i keep cranking or crack one of the pipes again to check for fuel?
I had the same on a truck a while back and it took ruddy ages before it would fire up.In the end i had jusmp leads from my truck and just kept cranking the the other truck over till it fired up
it could well be.Also worth trying to make sure fuel is getting into the pump and on the top is 2 bolt type fixings. As you crank the truck over slacken off the front one and fuel should come out and then do the rear one.If fuel is coming out then it should come out of the injectors.Like i said it took me bloomin ages before i could get the truck fired up.Take the fuel filler cap off aswell incase the tank is pressurising and see if that helps
I also slackend off all the injectors in turn and kept cranking till fuel came through
This may not be much help but this is all i could think of doing when i had trouble
I didn't realize at the time but no.1 injector on mine wasn't tight, I primed the filter same as you, attached the fully charged batteries, turned the key for twenty seconds straight and was about to abort when it fired, whether the cracked pipe helped the procedure or not I don't know. H
Cheers lads bit there is something else going on.
Alan will be on with more questions later.
We have done all the crack injectors, prime pump, check fule to pump ect ect and still nothing making it up the pipes. It's as if the pump isn't working.
We checked volts and getting 5v so where to go from here.

Are you talking about these Rich, I did the front one on priming and I got fuel here, didn't know about the other one until I read your post and looked at the manual online.

all i know its on the side of the pump and can be done with the pump in place so should be easy enough. Its only the 3.0l that have this little filter in the pump
