Ok after much thought, and cash, I have decided to sell my surf. The problem is I don't know how much is worth. It failed its MOT last month on a fuel pump leak only. My mechanic says that because its an import he cannot source the seal I need, so he cannot repair it. I cannot afford to spend another £150 on it just to be told it cannot be fixed. It starts and drives and everything that should work does, even the bumpers have been replaced. If I had the space to strip it I would because I know all the parts are worth money but I would rather someone had it and made use of a good condition truck. So im looking for a reasonable price to stick it on ebay for but I have no clue as to the value and know that someone on here will know its value. Thx in advance ppl.

I have the one from roughtrax for the denso pump but it's not that seal so it seems. I have been told that my pump does not match any of the 3 that are listed for hilux surfs, it looks like an espada or something but the part numbers don't tally up. There are upmps on eBay but I have no numbers to go by, the I'd plate is corroded and pitted so is unreadable. So I'm not sure which pump I would need to get. I have looked into any away not to have to sell it but I'm pretty much out of options I think. I should also mention that it's a 1991, j plate, 2.4 auto, ln130.

cant fid any seals on milner, my mechanic said he has called a local diesel specialist and hey can look at if I get the pump off but he cannot get the crank nut undone? ( not sure what that would do). So, there being 3 different pumps for my truck and mine not looking like any of them im at a bit of a roadblock. Only thing he said was to maybe re-engine it, which I cannot afford after being outta work for 2 years cos of bloody throat cancer. That is the only reason im selling, I would love to keep the truck, ive owned it for 4 yrs and love it to bits but im stuck now.

                        £500 if you want rid

Which is a waste of your money for about an hours work and £20 worth of o rings.

The fact that your so called mechanic can't ; one source the parts and ; two can't undo a crank bolt beggars belief.

The quick and dirty bodge would be to fire some brake fluid into the fuel tank and let that swell the o rings and and least then sell it with an MOT and as long as the new owner knows the seals might need changing then you can sell it with a clear conscience.

Like Woodwarm said bribe someone with tea/biscuits/bacon/beer don't break it just because of an o ring

I don't know what o ring to get, and my mechanic has phoned local Toyota dealer and without knowing what pump I have he has know way of getting a pump seal kit. The one you are talking about from roughtrax costs approx £40 which I purchased straight away and he has fitted them to be on the safe side. There doesn't seem to be any other seal kits available. Tbh I even looked into a new pump and they are £2300 if they can get one which the dealer said was probably a no because of the age of the vehicle. So it's not really a couple of hours work and £20, I would be having that done if I could. That's why I came asking a price because this repair is probably going to cost another £300 the way it's going. A local diesel pump repair place said they could look at it on the bench but would not confirm whether they would still be able to fix it. I can't afford to replace the truck but I also cannot afford to pay any more money.

Ady, can understand Rick's frustrations. Nothing worse than a professional mechanic taking your money, scratching his head & nuts telling you to throw more cash in the pot

Sometimes best to sell & save further worries.
Seen similar on ebay (running with faults,no mot) £700 on a very good day.

On a bad day £200 ish
