Yep, my thoughts exactly. That's one of the catalogue of things that was wrong with my Surf when I bought it. They'd even tried to bend the pins of the blown fuse together!

The bus bar for the glow plugs should be insulated from the engine with 2 insulators, should be stacked thus: Blue insulator, Bus Bar, Wire from relay, black insulator then the securing nut.

And they should never replace only one glow plug.

If the turbo light doesn't work when you're driving, the vacuum hoses are possibly on wrong.

Check here for a pic of how they should look

It sounds like this garage is grabbing at straws, as they don't know how to fix it, and are obviously ot expierienced with these vehicles or diesels in general.

I would discuss with them the option/possibility of having it repaied by a diesel specialist at their expense.

So it looks like they were monkeying around with a bit more than just the glow plugs then, sounds like they were just pulling stuff apart willy nilly in the vain hope of stumbling across the fault by accident, at your expense!

Unfortunately there are still a lot of garages out there without the skilled staff to do the job they profess to be able to do!..

Downlod the 3rd from the bottom, put it on a disc and give it to them, at least thay will then have as much tech info as the toyota technicians. ( if they can read that is)
