whatever you were trying to do I think if you've dropped anything into the cylinder then you've got problems.
If its a steel part you may be able to get to it with a magnetic removal tool.
My advice would be NOT to attempt to start the engine until you have removed the item.

Mama, take this badge off of me
I can't use it anymore.
It's gettin' dark, too dark for me to see
I feel like I'm knockin' on heaven's door.
Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door
Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door
Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door
Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door
Mama, put my spanners in the ground
I can't use them anymore.
That long black cloud is comin' down
I feel like I'm knockin' on heaven's door.
Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door
Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door
Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door
Knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door
good luck!it's in me shed, mate.

Had a go at changing the spark plugs today on my 1993 Hilux, and typically have ended up in a mess. The first thing I did was remove the bar that goes across the top of where I think the spark plugs are located. Then I set about removing the 1st bolt (which I slide back across the connecting bar)
and then the 2nd bolt. Once this was done I got a 19mm deep socket to remove what I thought was the spark plug - it goes into the engine at an angle. When I took this out a spring (I checked it was a spring by opening the one beside it to make sure I wasn't imagining things) fell into the engine never to be seen again! I put everything back (minus the spring) and started it up. Now I have a knocking sound coming from the engine!
Was I even working on the spark plugs, if not, what was I working on?
Pieces I took off looked nothing like the plugs I got from the auto shop)
Any advice greatly appreciated
