I'm not going to bother. Insurance is just a piece of paper to enable me to get a tax disc. When it comes to making a claim, suddenly the rules change or some 'small print' magicaly appears so the the insurers don't lose/pay out.
been playing today. i got curious with the amount of smoke on the surf and all the pipes are full of oil again so prob turbo seals?
anyhow - 2 or 4 of the pipes have splits and thought now is the time to replace with silicone ones, but whats the point if im going to intercool soon?
so now im playing with spots to put it. heres some ideas... (im sure there are lots more (over the rocker cover etc) - i need to do a new gasket there too and replace all the bolts as 2 are busted
so now the surf is off the road i better get the body lift done sharpish so i can order the right pipes
the other outlet you cant see comes straight out the bottom - i need a coupling welded on first.
i may be talking c.rap now (i've got a degree in it), but i reakon the 3rd option would be better than other 2 because it probably cooler that side of the engine being as far away from the exhaust as possible, although it may not make much difference because the heat under a surf hood is pretty high anyway.
would you put a scoop to it if you mounted it to a side like that as oppose to mounted in the middle over the rocker like the warriors have? or would you not bother since you're lifting, i don't want to lift but am having ums and ahhs about what scoop to get.
your probably right as the turbo/exhaust are away from it...
i dont mind doing off centre scoops at all but the ridge on the surfs bonnet will be in the way for a wide one.
the 3rd option is probably easiest to plumb in too as original piping can still go to the turbo and then a new run across the back of the engine should do it.
the other bonus is i will need to remove it less there as its only blocking power steering fluid & fuel filter not the oil filler & dipstick
sounds good. just confirmed my fears today while looking at the plumbing for my intercooler that the seals on my turbo are shagged. still, better to do it now, rather than getting the cooler on there and that getting flooded with oil.
Easy guys have a look at my install. its a top mount RX7 intercooler. not so difficult to fit but have to do some modifications to make it fit.The vent is a modified WRX unit.Look at the pics:
Mm i dont know on which impreza it came out on but you can find those on sale on ebay.Mine has been modified to let more air comming in.it was cut and not has a bigger intake.
What about a turkey roasting tin with one side cut out? You may think I am jesting but I wouldn't have known that is what the scoop is on my mates car. A bit of a rub down with course wire wool, slap on the plastic padding, rub down and paint.
