  • It's Gorra Go

Well, I gave it my best shot but it just aint for me. I sold a Defender TDI three and a half years ago and bought a 94 3.0TD Surf, auto in black. After 41 years of LR ownership I just can't get on with it, it's soulless and bland. It's immensely powerful and very comfortable, it all still works (which it wouldn't on a Land Rover) but it's just not for me.

So, the big question is gents, what's it worth because I haven't a clue?

It's still quite tidy, drivers door has slight corrosion at bottom but there's another one ready to fit, slight blow on centre box, tyres are good, long mot, taxed (if the price reflects it), interior very good, side steps were taken off as they dirty your strides when you get in, one plastic wheel arch has crazed lacquer. It runs well, starts first time, uses no oil. That about sums it up. App 180k miles on an N plate and it's a SSRX LTD.
I shall go back to a Disco this time, a nice 300tdi auto.
Can anyone give me a realistic value please ?
    Thanks

A Surf is soul-less compared to a LandRover????

    I think you mean hole-less?

I doubt you'll get a good price for it on here now after admitting you want to replace it with a Disco.

Are the inner arches of the surf in anyway corroded?
Is there plenty of elbow room?
Can you turn the steering wheel on the surf without opening the window?
        Soulless and Bland?
Well, you are entitled to your opinion, but come on...Every customer I have in my neighbourhood recognises my truck they wave or flash as I go by...would they to a LR? Methinks not.

If you have been conditioned to believe solihull produces the best something by far, then so be it.
May be someone will start a poll on what that "something" is...

not entitled to an opinion if he thinks a blandrover is better.

Not going to start a "this is better than that" argument, but, after 41 years you do tend to get attached to a particular make. You also tend to know where to get parts cheap, what goes wrong with them and how to fix them. Having had a competition Land Rover repair shop for over ten years also helps (sold in 2001 due to a tax inspection)

So, what's it worth gents, I know a Disco in the same condition would fetch app £1500 but haven't a clue with this.

Would you like to point out anywhere in my posts that would give the impression of wearing "rose tinted specs". I have in fact stated that the Surf was virtually faultless, just not for me. I don't like the driving position compared to Disco or Range Rover 2 or 3. The Surf's a perfectly acceptable vehicle, if you like them, I don't. Having said that, I don't like pineapple either, or lager so will you object to that as well?

£1500 is a good starting price for what you're selling.

Thank you for a straight answer.
And thanks to the one's that realise not everyone is the same, we don't all like the same things.

Is on here going to be the best place to advertise? The fleabay site seems to get a lot of no bids ?
                          Cheers

advertise where ever possible. here would be good, ebay is okay and try piston heads, friend bought his there, but dont join the club in the sense that people think 'if its on piston heads its worth 1000 more'.

just make sure (being black) its dam clean and stands out.
well, that was a bad idea!
