hi guys thanks for all your responses

heres a recap of the problems as it looks like they've got lost sorry guys

**problem 1: truck will not pull away in DRIVE have to drop to low spews out lots of smoke manually going through gears ok but smoke and doesnt like it if im on a hill

booting it up a short steep hill on the way to work seems to get it working again for a while 9 times out of 10

      flahing O/D light

      WHAT I'VE TRIED

      ATF changed 3 times
      new air filter
new fuel filter (topped up with redex) and non return valve added
earth strap from alternator moved from wing to - battery teminal
all connectors i could find reseated
cleared code and when diag port jumpered 1 engine check code "normal" and NO O/D codes
      levels all ok

**problem 2: no oil pressure on gauge needle far left (for over 12months)

      WHAT I'VE TRIED

earthed cable and needle moves to 1/4 (two cables tested)
      replaced oil pressure sender
      still nothing
      levels all ok

would really appriciate any help getting these sorted i know you guys can help me get to the bottom of this

will be fitting TPS when i get chance as I've been told they can throw up wierd errors

cheap filter comment was just for a couple of days to give me an answer as oil and filter being done next week

on another note dont suppose any one has one of these laying about (i know i'm pushing it sorry)

You're wasting your time replacing the TPS, it has nothing to do with the gear changes. You need a replacement transmission.

PM Bayside, he has one for sale.

only changing it as I have one

I cant PM how much is it likely to cost to fit a new transmission any idea (not convinced the tranny itself is the issue)

            cheers

Well try changing the air in the tyres then, that might cure it!

was only asking about potential costs mate as MOT at end of week and if it needs work for that and a tranny will probably have to sell it as costing me to much

I don't have money to throw at it that's all

                  cheers

M.O.T tomorrow wish me luck hoping the smoke due to gears doesn't cause it to fail it will be getting a dose of Redex and a good run hope that's enough

                    cheers

well it passed its M.O.T so all that work was worth it

oil and filter changed and much better still having gear probs but at least i know its not oil etc

                      any more ideas guys

one little problem is that rad is seeping a little from top pinch weld only 2 years old from milners, not impressed have put some radweld type stuff in but if this doesn't work does anyone know if its an easy fix and rough cost

                      cheers Jon

                        Oh dear ...

                        1. Buy decent spares - Roughtrax and Toyota supply good rads

                        2. NEVER use radweld

Suggest you drain and flush your cooling system and solder/braze the rad while you wait for a decent one to arrive !

its not actually radweld but something similar from the garage they use it a lot apparently (I personally don't like it but better than rad leaking)

how do I solder the Rad and how long is this likely to last

cheers mate off to roughtrax to price one up do you know if they do the hose kit as well may be worth doing everything together

                          cheers

I have already reached the limit of my knowledge !

If I was doing it my approach would be:

                            1. Clean off any paint/corrosion etc from around the leak when the system is drained

                            2. Prepare the surface with a bit of wet and dry making sure that it's clean and dry afterwards

                            3. Cover the dodgy area with some flux

                            4. Apply a feck off big soldering iron and when it's nice and warm flow some solder over the area

                            PS
I've just lied through my teeth - if I was doing it I'd take it to Dr Anglegrinder and say 'Replace that cheap shitty rad please Tony'

the roughtrax rad looks exactly the same as the milners one same price as well?

wondering if I should take the opportunity to fit an ATF cooler (if i can find one)

                              cheers Jon

looks like that's the best way forward cant believe it past its MOT but still needs cash spending on it
