Cannot remember or care i was 15 and into tygers of pantan and sneaking into the elephant house at hatfield poly with me brother and all his heavy metal mates.
But do know exactly where i was when diana died,
sat in a portaloo at 3 in the morning whilst camping at an agility dog show near bromsgrove suffering from the shits and vomiting (bad battered mushrooms) and wondering why the feck people are up at this time as well, till i sensed a lull in my situation and took note of what they were actually saying...... had to go back to me tent and wake the now mrs up and tell her, like she gave a fudge at 3 in the morning.......
    Remember arrows are silent.....................
Don't forget to tell everyone its indestructable as seen on top gear.......

When Di-died, I remember waking up to the clock radio playing really dirgy music and thinking WW3 had started and these were emergency broadcasts.

My fear turned to misery when I realised all the good telly had been cancelled so celebs could grieve live on TV.

No idea, never liked him or them, then or since.

I do like Ringo on Thomas the Tank though.

I remember where I was when I heard on the radio that Elvis had died ... eating Bangers and Mash @ BZN.

I was only 4 so can't remember. But my Mum was a crazy Beatles fan so I grew up with the Beatles. So much so she named all her children after them. I was named after Ringo and I was a drummer for 7 yrs. My Mum passed away when I was 13, she was 39. She never got the chance to visit Livepool or the Beatles museum or the famous Cavern club.
I have, since her death become a musician, singer/songwriter and have performed 2 headline shows at the Cavern club.

That meant more to me than anything else in the world.

Also played in New York after visiting the Dakota. I stood in that doorway where he was shot and just cried, for her, she visited it through me.

I cant say I was mad about the Beatles, even though they were from my home town and I was kind of brought up immersed in it. My dad met George Harrison at the Cavern when my dads band used to play there too. He drank with him once or twice.

For me, his songwriting was probably the best, with Lennon following a close 2nd. I didn't really rate McCartney, he was 'just' the pretty-boy popstar of the band, and Ringo I reckon was just making up the numbers. As Lennon said, "He's not the best drummer in the world ... he's not even the best drummer in the Beatles"

I do think Lennon was hugely influential, and a role model for some at the time, even though it seems he was a bit of an egocentric, angry chap who wasn't very nice to be around at times. I sometimes wonder what he'd be doing if he was still alive, and whether he'd have sold out like 'sir' Paul has done in spades! I like to think not.

I was parked in the next street with the getaway car. However, TopGear was due to start and he was late, so I left him to it.

11yr old's driving, ahh they were the days.

I was probably sat in an Army workshop in Germany fixing Chieftain FVGCE PSU's

I find it hard to understand how people can get upset about the death of somebody they never knew ...

When I was growing up I much preferred the Stones and then progressed to Dylan, Hendrix, Zeppelin etc. Having said that Lennon's music seems to have more of a message - don't think I'd have liked the guy if I'd met him if his interviews etc are anything to go on

Life is too important to take seriously !

Didn't like the Beatles' music anyway, but not bad enough to want to kill any of them!
