torque converter

hi need help think my torque converter is leaking had it looked at mac says thats what it is. there is oil coming out where gearbox meets engine. red- brown in colour. Where can you get new one and how much would this cost?

Torque converters don't leak, they're a sealed unit.

It's most likely the transmission oil seal thats worn. either way, the transmission needs to come off.

Torque converters? A couple of hundred pounds I would have thought, never had cause to look for new ones to be honest.

Oil seal? About £8 if it's a dealer part.

Vince is right, it 99.99999999999% will be the seal.

Parts cheap as chips, but lots labour if you're paying someone to fix it.

yes paying for it as i only no the front from the back £60 per hour 2 days they say

recon ya torque converter 185 with vat
new torque converter 285 after market one
toyota was over 400 quid if i remember rightly

2 days @ £60 an hour..? nearly £1K???? assuming an 8 hour day, I hope they mena they want it for 2 days, not working on it for 2 days!!

Shame you're so far away, I charge £200 to remove and replace Surf gearboxes and still feel guilty.

seen one in scrap yard but its of h reg will that be different . by the way it would be cheaper to come down and stay in bed breakfast thanks

this is the first 3rd gen i have heard with this problem.I would drive down to Tony and save a few hundred ££'s and have him sort it for you

iam not and i have blow my whole gearbox before
sounds like the seal and you dont want that to leak dry

no not convinced but there is one in scrap yard gearbox and torque converter if not to much £££££££ mite bye but this is of h reg will it fit would like to have parts as its 410 miles super glue my eyelids up to get there.....your all very helpful thanks

nope. gearbox is very different, so would probably guess the convertor is as well
